A sexagenarian goes on a killing spree to avenge the deaths of his wife, son, and vintage car. If I wanted to see a trash pile of unfunny generational humor, I wouldn't have uninstalled Facebook.
There's not much point in delving any further into the plot. It's just a rickety vehicle for stale jokes about how much twenty-somethings love selfies, avocado toast, and not owning real estate. One of the weirder aspects is how it portrays boomers, gen x'ers, and gen z'ers bonding over their shared hatred of millennials. Who exactly is this movie for? I can only assume its target audience is everyone's weird uncle who isn't invited to Thanksgiving anymore.
Most flabbergasting to me is the fact that Chris Parnell voices the main character. I mean, he's not broke, right? You'd think a guy whose greatest selling point is his comedic chops would avoid projects like this for the sake of his reputation. If you told me a Saturday Night Live alum was involved in this mess, I would have guessed it was Rob Schneider.
Seriously, guys. Avocado toast jokes? Could this writing be any hackier? That's a Friends reference, for all you readers of a certain age, whether you're too young to remember Friends or old enough to think Millennial Hunter is effective satire.
Maybe I'm being too hard on boomer humor. Not because anything in Millennial Hunter is funny, but because even boomers should think it's godawful. At least the ones who are still invited to Thanksgiving.
Yet another Tubi original fails to graduate.
3 out of 10.
Goddammit, Tubi.
