It's fortunate that Connor Holloway, the mopey hero of Other Monsters, is pretty good at avenging women's deaths, because he's absolute dogshit at protecting their lives. First his stripper girlfriend gets murdered on a job where he's supposed to be her bodyguard. Then the dead girlfriend's sister gets shotgunned in a hotel while he's in the bathroom. These two events happen a few years apart, during which time Connor went to prison after being framed for the first murder.
Could the cops not figure out there were four other men in the room when the girlfriend got killed? No red flags like forensic evidence from the rapes, or Connor's head wound, or...you know what, I guess it doesn't matter. We're not here for a realistic police procedural. We're just here to watch an emotionally damaged vigilante kill a bunch of sleazeballs who ostensibly deserve it. We shouldn't be, though. There's nothing of interest here.
Anyway. Connor gets out of prison and kills the first of his girlfriend's four attackers. Then the sister tracks him down and immediately shoots him in the stomach. Luckily, he's able to convince her that he's innocent before either of them wind up killing the other one. They have a hearty chuckle over their misunderstanding and proceed to go after the other three bad guys. The sister gets shot dead partway through the mission, leaving Connor to kill the last bad guy by himself. That's about all there is to say about the story. I don't really have much to say about the directing or the acting, either. You didn't expect any of it to be good, did you?
I think the only reasons I watched this turd are Chloe Farnworth and Alexandra Holden. Farnworth because she was okay in 12 Hour Shift. Holden because I had mistaken her for a different actress. In Holden's defense, Other Monsters is at least a step up from The Hot Chick. May she never stoop to working with Rob Schneider again.
3 out of 10.
Seen on Tubi.
