Derek's young daughter is found murdered. He soon discovers his brother did it. He takes his brother hostage and tortures him over the course of several days. And that's it. That's the whole movie.

It's not a spoiler to say that Derek's brother is the killer. To call it a spoiler is to imply that the story has an element of mystery to it. The script's not that sophisticated. The first act is nothing but a double-time march to the torture porn. Give yourself five seconds to imagine the laziest possible way for Derek to discover the killer's identity. Got it? Now here's how they did it in Daddy's Little Girl: Derek reads about it in his brother's diary. Was your way lazier than that?

The torture porn itself is a weak payoff. Sure, it looks painful, but who gives a shit? Maybe I'm in the minority here, but by the time I got treated to the sight of an underdeveloped character's kneecaps getting dislocated, I was already bored.

2 out of 10.
